Sold

Two weeks ago today Tye and I finally closed on our house in Winston Salem, it is finally SOLD!  After almost two years on the market and 3 relators later we received an offer and negotiated our way (well Tye negotiated our way, I was ready to accept the first crazy low offer) into a contract.  It felt like from the time we received the offer to the time we signed the final papers was forever.  We had less than 2 weeks to move everything out of the house and as you might know already we are renting in Davidson so this is our in between houses time so ALL of our belongings are stuffed into my parents house (thank you mom for your patience).  It feels so weird not having a permanent address but I would not change anything about this time we have had and the lessons we have learned.

It felt so crazy moving everythign out (crazy in a good way).  It was a so real moment, that was our first house but we did not get too emotinal about it because we were so happy we could move on with the next chapter in our lives.  You never know how much stuff you have until you have to move it all out...it look's so weird all empty!

Maybe we watch too much HGTV but we wanted to leave a little something for the new homeowners...a bottle of wine and a card (of course)
It has been hard and there were times I gave up and thought the house was never going to sell and we were destined to not have a new home but Tye always made me feel better…we would say a prayer and have faith that one day when the time was right God would get it sold and he did.

Now the fun part begins and we get to start house hunting...YAY!

Fancy Writing

I love to write letters and send cards.  Everyone likes to receive a card in the mail I don't care who you are!  One of my favorite things about writing letters is addressing the envelope. I know that sounds a little crazy but it truly is one of my favorite parts.  So because of that I want to take a calligraphy class, and just so you know it is very difficult to find someone to teach you this art.  I have called around and finally found someone that is willing to teach me, so excited!  Old school calligraphy is nice and all but I want to write in curly q's and all.  Below are a couple of styles that I want to learn...

I have many containers filled with cards that I have collected through the years, I NEVER throw a card away and sooner or later I am going to do something crafty with all of them.  Below is a  Pinterest idea that I love...

I hope that snail mail ever gets old, I am a firm believer that a hand written card means more then an e-mail, text or e-vite so everyone I know keep an eye on your mailboxes!

Currently Living in the Stone Age

When I say living in the stone age I mean that currently while we are in “home transition” we do not have the internet at our rental house in Charlotte.  So we must use the Hot Spot on our phones to connect if we would like to do any computer work at home.  Good for us we are not into technology at ALL and are basically challenged in that category of our life.  I am trying to learn and get better (ummm like this blog you are reading) but I have a long road ahead.  Tye and I did decide when we do move in to our new house we are going to have lightning speed internet and all the bells and whistles that are offered, Watch out America!

I bring this subject up right now because last week we went to visit Heather and Charlie and they got us hooked on the Showtime Series “Homeland” and since we now live in Charlotte I am currently obsessed with spotting Clair Danes and maybe becoming an extra for next season.  Let the stalking begin.  We watched the whole 1st season in like 4 days and now here is the problem we CAN NOT watch the second season because we are not able to get Showtime on Demand because we have NO INTERNET.  The lady at direct TV thought we were absolutely crazy when we said we did not have internet but right now it would be too much trouble to get it hooked up and we are trying to make our current residence as temporary as possible and the internet is a little to “settled in” for us.  Back to Homeland, so now season 2 is not out on DVD yet and there is no way to watch it so I must wait in anticipation for August 27th 2013 when it is released and I have already reserved my copy on Amazon J

Funny Tid Bit we had to buy the first season on DVD because Blockbuster was out of it…Yes there is still one Blockbuster still in business and with all the late fees we always pay I think that The Young’s are the ones keeping it afloat!

Since College

I can remember in college having no idea what I wanted to do when "I grow up"...well I guess the time has come and since I am 30 I am all grown up :) After much consideration and a strong push from my parents I ended up being a business major, like everyone else in my class.  I wanted to go the route of interior design but at App the interior design building was literally a run down house and the business building looked like the taj mahal hall compared to it.  I am glad I got the business degree and after being in the work world for the last 7 years I am finally about to start a job I am truly excited about.  It is alot different from what I have done in the past but I think that is a good thing.  I found this below picture on pinterest and think it says it all!

8.2.12

Today I am sitting at work and feel a little under the weather.  It all started late Tuesday night with a little sore throat but has now escalated into a full out sickness...boooooo!  It is also super slow at work so I just get to sit here a wallow in my sickness and drink hot liquid - Super fun to say the least.  But enough with that...you know last time I said we had some exciting stuff in the works well plans changed and those exciting things did not pan out but some new ones surfaced so we will see what happens (sorry to be so vague).

July just flew by and now it is August and I was looking at our calender for August and September and there is so much going on!  It is also super birthday time...Johnny, Doug, Mom and Dad!  I guess there are going to be alot of balloons and cake!  I am also throwing a baby shower for my BFF Michelle and her husband Joe - this will be my first time throwing a baby shower and I have so many ideas...it is going to be Fabulous!  I will defiantly be posting pictures, I so cant wait till I have a house again and can host parties :)

As the fall season sneaks in I have been busy on pinterst and blogs looking at all the new trends for the season...I can't wait to put on a scarf, leggings and boots!  I hope that is one trend that will never go away!  Cheers to August!

Busy Busy

I cant believe that it is already almost the end of July...how time flies!  We have been so busy since my birthday.  Bryson has been here for the past two weeks and let me tell you it is tiring being a full time parent...but we have had such a great time!  Last week he went to Davidson Soccer Camp all week it was 8am to 5pm Monday - Friday and every day I picked him up the first thing out of his mouth was "whats for dinner?" So funny I used to do the same thing!  The tables are turned.  This Saturday Tye and I are taking him back to Greenville and his mom is throwing him a birthday party and we are all going...slip and slides and face painting, a nine year olds dream!  We are so lucky to have such a great son!

Currently we have a couple of things in the works, that is all I am going to say because I don't want to Jinx anything before it happens.  Just keep us in your prayers :)  I hope everyone has a great weekend, it  has been in the 90's here all week so stay cool!

30 is right around the corner...LITERALLY!!!

Tomorrow is the 4th of July and also my 30th Birthday, so today I am just enjoying the last day of being in my twenties.  I am not nervous about turning 30 at all, actually I am excited about it!  I like to extend my birthday into a birthday week instead of just one day.  It was so cute on Monday morning Tye woke up and said "Happy Birthday Week"...Love him!  We have lots of plans for the rest of the week and today is my last day of work for the week (thank goodness).

Highlights of my Twenties

Graduating from College - GO ASU! - age 21
It is crazy for most of my late teens and early twenties I lived with my Best Friend and we did EVERYTHING together now we both have wonderful husbands and do EVERYTHING with them but I am so blessed I can still call her my best friend even though we dont see each other everyday.  Not very many people can enter their 30's with the same best friend they entered their teens with.
Meeting my fabulous Husband, again!- age 21
I have known Tye since pre-school and we were actually good friends in high school but never dated.  When we met again at Rusty Rudder in Lake Norman it was love at first site and we have been together ever since the day we met...again!
Getting a big girl job (which I am still not happy about) - age 22
I have had a couple of jobs since graduating from college and am still in the processes of finding the perfect fit for me.  I know it will come (hopfully sooner then later)!
Buying a house - age 24
We bought our first house in Winston Salem and made it our home.
Getting Engaged - age 25
December 5, 2008 Tye proposed to me at the Young's Christmas Tree Farm (I know Young's...Funny) and we started planning our wedding and future together!
Getting Married - age 27
May 15, 2010 I married the love of my life on the steps of the Old Baldy Lighthouse.  That day was filled with so much love and joy we had both of our families and all of our friends celebrating with us!
Putting our House for Sale - age 29
We decided to move to Charlotte and put our house on the market almost a year ago...I hope and pray that I can add "SOLD our house" to my list of things for age 30!

So many wondeful things happended in my twenties and I am so excited to see what God has in store for my my thirties!  I feel so blessed that I get to spend my 30th Birthday WEEK with my hubby, family and friends!  CHEERS everyone...HAPPY 4TH OF JULY!!!

A Little Inspiration

This mornining I needed a little inspiration, so I took a long quiet look outside and just thanked the Lord for all the blessings in my life.  I know that as long as I have faith and love in my heart that he will guide me in the right direction. It is going to be a hot one today...the high is 104 degrees and this weekend it is supposed to get up to 107...GOSH that is HOT!  Stay cool and everyone have a wonderful and blessed weekend, I know I will!

Biltmore House Adventure

Eventhough I have lived in North Carolina most of all my life I have never been to the Biltmore House, it has always been one of those places I have wanted to go.  So I took a random Wednesday off work and off we went up the mountain.  It is funny unusally when I say up the mountain we are going to Boone but not this time!  Mom and Grammy picked us up bright and early and we headed out.  It was a drive up there but totally worth it, the weather was gorgeous and the estste was to say the least breathtaking!  Below are some pictures from our adventure...

It's been a while...

Well, it has been a while since my last post. Here is a quick run down since my last post in March to bring everyone up to date and below is a photo dump of all our adventures!

We have been on a couple beach trips in April,we went down to Myrtle Beach and stayed with my brother and his wonderful girlfriend Lauren and we also went down at the beginning of April for Heather's big 30th Birthday weekend. We love beach time, hopefully one day when we are still young enough to enjoy it but old enough to afford it we can have our very own beach house..."The Young's Beach Resort"  :)

On May 15th we celebrated our 2nd wedding anniversary...I can not believe it has been two years! I thank God everyday for giving my wonderful husband to me! He truly means everything to me and I feel so blessed to have him as my partner in life! To celebrate our anniversary we had a quiet dinner together at Flat Iron in Davidson and then during dinner Tye says "by chance do you want to go to the All Star Race this weekend to celebrate our anniversary?" I could tell he was kinda joking and he thought I would say "no way" but I surprised him and said "sure!". So the plans were set that weekend on Saturday May 19th I would attend my very first NASCAR race!  We had a blast!

In May and June we celebrated Mother's and Father's Day with brunch on Mother's Day and dinner for Father's Day at our townhouse in Winston Salem (yes it is still for sale). It is so nice we can have both of our families together to celebrate instead of trying to split time. I made some excellent new delicious recipes and got a great deal that I am still talking about because I can not believe it happened. I decided to make a recipe from "The Pioneer Woman" which is a new show on Food Network that I LOVE! It was a deep dish quiche recipe so I needed to get deep dish quiche pans...the ONLY place I could find these dang pans were Williams and Sonoma and I did not want to pay a million dollars for them but at this point I had no choice so I bit the bullet.  I went to Williams and Sonoma got the two pans and went to the cash register and held my breath...to my surprise they were on SUPER clearance and each pan was $4.99...WHAT I know, I got out of there for less then $10.00!!!!! AWESOME!!!! Ok that is it with the pans I will stop talking about them now.

At the end of June Erwin and his friend John came to visit us from the Netherlands! The last time Erwin was in the USA was for our wedding so it was great to see him again and this was John's first trip to the USA. We had such a great visit with them. During their visit we went to the US Whitewater Center in Charlotte - this is such a great place!!! My family came into town, and so did Heather and Charlie to go White Water rafting...it was so much fun! As you can tell from the pictures below...and those helmets will never be in fashion! Later that night Nancy and Doug hosted an All American Cookout to give Erwin and John a taste of the good stuff!!! We all had a blast together!

Now it is already the end of June...Where did all the time go!  Mom went last week and picked up Grammy from Ohio to spend a couple of weeks with us.  Tomorrow Mom, Grammy, Bryson and me are headed to Asheville to go to the Biltmore House.  I have never been so I am very excited.   More summer adventures to come...

PS:  Sorry the pictures are in no particular order...they kinda downloaded crazy!  Enjoy!
